Meyer Manufacturing Company Limited was formed in 1951 to manufacture flashlights, ashtrays and other consumer products. Today, Meyer affiliates compose the world’s second largest manufacturer of cookware products and produce in excess of 100,000 pans a day - or more than 30 million pans a year. The Meyer group of companies employs over 5,000 people in 30 countries. Worldwide, Meyer affiliates manufacture and sell more than 100 lines of cookware. In the United States, Meyer Corporation sells cookware under the brands Circulon®, Anolon®, Farberware®, KitchenAid® Cookware and SilverStone®. In addition to managing the business, Cheng is actively involved in marketing as well as research and development. Passionate about cooking tools, Cheng is always focused on ways to improve the performance of cookware. He is credited with revolutionizing the nonstick cookware industry with his invention of non-stick hard anodized cookware and the “Hi-Low” circular grooves on nonstick hard anodized cookware products – patented under his name – for the Circulon® cookware line. Introduced in 1986, Circulon was the first hard-anodized nonstick cookware and changed the way high-end non-stick cookware is made. Nonstick hard anodized cookware outlasts traditional nonstick cookware by at least 2 to 1.

A mechanical engineering graduate of Oregon State University, he serves as a trustee of Copia – The American Center for Wine, Food and the Arts.

Cheng lives in Hillsborough, California, with his wife, Helen and three children.
